What do you do if you don’t like the color of a guitar you have?
I don’t know about you (maybe you don’t buy it in the first place), but I refinish it just because I can 🙂
This is the guitar I’ve got with a big discount, it was a B-Stock, most probably an in-store demo, it had pretty obvious traces of use, including some slight fret wear and very very played-in strings.
This is how it looked, minus its white pickguard that I’ve removed almost immediately, didn’t like how it looked. It’s a “Harley Benton Double Cut Junior Fat”, fat meaning fat neck, it is really pretty beefy and I like it actually. Its single pickup is of a stacked noiseless design, similar to a Gibson P100.
Another motivation was an absence of comfort cuts: a front one for the forearm and the back for the “belly”.
I have a bunch of videos on my Youtube playlist that show the stages of this, from stripping the existing paint to adding the comfort cuts and to the refinishing in red tint and finishing oil:
And it’s now looking like this:
Will probably refinish the neck also. It’s looking strange with the blue neck and the red body
